Warframe beginner roadmap: what to do first

Warframe offers quests, open worlds, equipment farming and factions almost immediately. You do not have to complete everything at once. The reliable starting loop is to unlock the next Junction, improve a loadout, start Foundry jobs and use the new content you have unlocked.

Follow Junctions and main quests

After the introduction, inspect the next Star Chart Junction. The current in-game screen lists its tasks and rewards. Complete nearby mission nodes and follow the main story from the Codex. Junction tasks were revised in 2025, so older web walkthroughs may describe requirements you no longer have. Do not get stuck finishing every open-world activity before unlocking the next planet.

  1. Check the next Junction's requirements.
  2. Use the Codex to identify the next main quest.
  3. Start a Foundry craft before ending a session.

Improve the equipment you already have

Weapon level alone does not explain damage. Equip and upgrade compatible Mods, and keep one comfortable Warframe for challenging objectives. Learn how your weapon handles different enemies and whether you can survive long enough to finish the mission. Spend early Endo on broadly useful upgrades before maxing an expensive specialized Mod.

  1. Fit damage and survival Mods before chasing rare weapons.
  2. Equip a companion for utility and loot collection.
  3. Farm the missing resources for one clear craft goal.

Avoid wasted currency and time

Foundry timers often run while you are offline, so do not assume rushing them with Platinum is necessary. Equipment slots may be more useful than temporary convenience, but check event and Nightwave rewards first. Do not discard a unique quest reward without checking how to reclaim it. Ignore systems you have not unlocked instead of purchasing your way into them.

  1. Keep a short list of one main goal and one optional side task.
  2. Do not trust promises of free Platinum or account transfers.
  3. Use the site planner when several needed parts share a mission.

Frequently asked questions

What should a brand-new player do after the introduction?

Open the Star Chart and inspect the next Junction. It gives you an immediate set of goals and unlocks new places to gather resources. Follow the Codex's main quest progression alongside those tasks. A trip to an open world is useful when a specific item calls for it, but you do not need to finish every optional bounty before continuing. If combat becomes difficult, revisit the Mods on your existing frame and weapon first.

Should I spend my starting Platinum on a new Warframe?

There is no universal best purchase, but avoid spending a limited balance simply to skip a Foundry timer. Warframe and weapon slots can be helpful when your collection expands, while many frames can be crafted through normal gameplay. Check for free slots or upgrades from current Junctions, Nightwave or other rewards before buying. Never rely on external advertisements that promise free premium currency.
